Safety Is More Than a Buzzword at Premier Power Maintenance

Safety is a buzzword in the electrical industry. Today’s contractors are held to a much higher standard of safety than were companies of just a generation ago—and rightly so. Every employee’s wellbeing is important, and over the years companies have adopted standards to protect their employees. As these standards have risen,

conscientious contractors have improved training and lowered their incident rates. This, in turn, has the added benefit of improving insurance costs. Companies can then pass on these savings to their clients in the form of better pricing.

Safety Is a Top Priority at Premier Power Maintenance—Not Just a Buzzword

Since Premier Power Maintenance’s inception, safety has always been and will always be a top priority. We adhere to the strictest standards, as evidenced by the levels of training our employees have completed and the awards we have won as a company. Below are a few of the safety certifications our employees receive.

  • All shop employees have OSHA 10 Hour certification.
  • All our managers have OSHA 30 Hour certification.
  • All our project managers have OSHA 500 and 501 certifications.
  • All our technicians are trained and licensed on man lifts and forklifts.
  • All our technicians are CDL trained and licensed for our cargo trucks, line trucks and derrick trucks.

Award-Winning Safety

Premier Power Maintenance is proud of its safety record. The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA) deemed us as a Certified Partner for achieving exemplary safety performance. This award is given to only those companies that are in the top 20% of their industry in the United States. This means that Premier Power Maintenance is in the top 20% of all power distribution companies in the country for safety records. This is quite an accomplishment, and one that we will strive to uphold.

Accountability is Key

An important part of having an exemplary safety record depends on having a plan and being held accountable. Premier Power Maintenance is so serious about this that we have hired the outside, independent organization Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety, Inc. (MICCS) to audit our records. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to achieving zero injury on construction job sites. Premier Power Maintenance dedicates numerous hours to this program, which acts as a checks and balances for our company's safety policies.

MICCS’ desire is to exceed the OSHA standards of safety. Every year MICCS reviews our safety program and validates that the statistics in the program’s database are what we reported to OSHA. For more information on this rigorous program we are proud to be a part of, go to http://miccscertification.org/Welcome.do.

Premier Power Maintenance has also been accepted into the National Compliance Management Service (NCMS). NCMS assists oil and gas operators with contractor pre-qualification as it relates to DOT alcohol and drug testing regulations and/or specific operator alcohol and drug testing requirements. Go to http://www.nationalcompliance.com/ for more information.

Premier Power Maintenance also has a program in place to address any safety violations, should they occur. Each case is judged on its own merit and includes appropriate consequences ranging from verbal reprimands to an immediate dismissal.

It should be obvious that safety is more than a buzzword at Premier Power Maintenance—it’s our reality: how we conduct our business and how we live our lives. Whether we are considering arc flash safety, Mine safety, HAZCOM or the numerous other safety issues we deal with in the electrical engineering field, our customers know that when they work with Premier Power Maintenance, they are working with an industry leader in the field of power distribution companies.
